Gombe okays N950m for regional water supply
Gombe State Executive Council presided by Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, on Wednesday, ratified the sum of N950 million for the maintenance of water supply.
Announcing the decision of council, Commissioner for Information, Julius Ishaya, explained that Government over the past two years has remained committed to the provision of potable water in the state.
Ishaya noted that the yearly contractual sum settles payment for 2020, adding that water supply comes with huge cost on the Government.
According to him, “Today council made approvals for maintenance of Gombe regional water supply for the year 2020. For every year the state has to enter a contractual agreement with the private firm taking care of the regional water supply.
“So for the year 2020 the sum of N950,647,980 was approved as contract sum for the maintenance of the regional water supply. Council ratified his excellency’s approval on the contract for the maintenance of the regional water supply for the year 2021. This is important because the government is priotising water supply especially to the state capital.
“You can all bear witness that water has been flowing since this government took over and comes with a cost. Government has been faithful in implementing this contract so that we can have water flowing.”
Commenting on the Midterm expenditure framework, Ishaya stressed that it was ratified after the commissioner for Finance Muhammad Magaji made his presentation to council.
He revealed that council also deliberated on Muhammadu Buhari industrial park phase one estimated at 16 billion naira.
“Council also approved a memorandum by Commissioner for Finance for the preparation of Midterm expenditure framework 2022 -2024.
“Council also approved for the construction of the phase one of the Muhammadu Buhari industrial park at a total cost of 16.4 billion naira,” Ishaya added
