Suspended chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Sunday Congo, says he is out of town, noting that as cause of delay to handover physically.

He revealed that he was required to handover physically, aside the viral handover note obtained by our correspondent, which he termed as draft.

Congo made this disclosure on Sunday, during a telephone interview with our correspondent in Gombe, stressing that upon his return he would handover physically as required.

Recall that the former State CAN boss, was fired following congratulatory letter to Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Prof. Ali Pantami, an indigene of Gombe.

The CAN headquarters sacked him for not seeking clearance before representing the body, in celebrating the minister whose elevation by Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), as Professor of Cyber Security, is surrounded in unanswered questions.

He said, “I’m yet to do it, I have to come physically and hand it over. So, I have not done it, because I have to do it physically. You don’t do it online, what I wrote (hand over note), was just a draft.”

Congo blamed his inability to do the handover as requested by CAN leadership to his distance, stressing that it would be done upon his arrival.

“There are arrangements we are still making, I’m not in town am outside town. So, I will be coming, until I come, I will do it physically,” he said.

The Viral handover note partly read, “Glory honour and praise be to God, and his faithfulness endures forever. I want to sincerely appreciate God for allowing me to serve as care taker Chairman CAN Gombe State this is a rare privilege, God thank you am grateful.

“Am grateful to CAN National Executives for giving me to serve God in CAN Gombe State am grateful. Thanks to the CAN Northeast for allowing me to serve for the period I have served.

“Special thanks to my Executives, our Wings, Block leaders, Local Government Coordinators, and all members of State Assembly for the cooperation, support and good working relationship you have given me I truly remain grateful to you all and I love you all,God bless you all.

“I have received a letter from the National office through the Chairman North East suspending me from office because I congratulated Hon Minister Pantami I receive the decision with all gratitude in all things the Bible says we should be thankful. God is my judge I didn’t do that with any evil intention of spoiling the church I am a child of God and I will never do such a thing. I therefore hand over the office today as instructed

“I therefore hand over all the above mentioned items with all gratitude to the glory of God. Wishing my successor all the best.I love CAN and I love you all.God thank you because you hold the best for me.”
