APC North East forum chides opposition, says they are cause of bickerings
All Progressives Congress (APC) North East consultative Forum has blamed the opposition for the current challenges bedevilling Nigeria, adding that the country must remain an indivisible entity.
Speaking on Tuesday, during a press briefing held in Gombe, on reflection of state of the Nation in the zone after third quarter of the year executive meeting, Chairman, Ahmed Saleh noted that uniting APC and making the party return in 2023 is crucial.
According to him, the opposition doesn’t want the country to be united owing to their overwhelming gains.
Saleh said, “Issues bedevilling the country in general is the work of the opposition. APC is doing all within it power to unite this country, to make Nigeria indivisible.
“We are the bedrock of the APC from the beginning. Am trying to tell you without any means of contradiction we are standing as a mouth piece of the zone prosperous and united Nigeria but unfortunately, the opposition don’t allow the country to be united.
“We from the North East are calling without missing of words, this forum can not tolerate this anymore from any quota. We must unite this country Nigeria is indivisible.”
Citing an instance of how the opposition is working to cause disharmony, the forum said, “An example is Anambra election where the minister of Justice emphasized that if there won’t be peace that there should be state of emergency to enable Nigerians come out and cast their franchise but the governor came out to say there won’t be state of emergency.”
While urging aggrieved persons from the recently concluded consensus congresses to put the interest of the party first, he noted that the forum would ensure reconciliation of entire members.
He added, “We are standing to unite the aggrieved party members who felt they were not treated well within the party. We are poised to bringing every sons and daughters of APC together to reconcile them.”
While soliciting for the position of vice president for the zone, Saleh disclosed that the party is yet to decide on the zoning formula but however, noted that it would be fair for the south to produce the president.
“Basically, president Muhammadu Buhari is from the North and he has run concurrently first and second term, in the spirit of justice, fairness and equity it should be zoned to the other side. We from the north east any where they zone the presidency, we are asking for the vice president come to the North East because we have been neglected over the years. It is an open government over the years,” he added.
