SRHIN holds cholera prevention campaign in Kaduna

No fewer than 70 persons, including community leaders, on Wednesday, participated in a cholera prevention campaign.
The outreach was organised by Slum and Rural Health Initiative Network (SRHIN), at Ungwan Machibi, a rural community in Kaduna State.

Speaking shortly before the commencement of the outreach, Regional Coordinator of SRHIN, Daniel Mark who sensitized participants, with the support of volunteers using hausa language, urged them to ensure cleanliness of their environment.
Mark said cholera is preventable, adding that the community would be safe when there is conscious towards in mitigating the spread.
The outreach involved enlightenment session on water sanitation, hygiene and cholera prevention to the participants, some of whom are security personnel.
The outreach is part of Slum and Rural Health Initiative Network’s projects to alleviating and curbing the spread of cholera in rural areas and slums.
To put action to words, after the sensitization, relief package which contained materials for hand washing and sanitation were distributed to all those that attended.
