Just In: After September biometrics, Gombe uncovers 781 ghost workers, saves N50.6m
Gombe State Government has announced the suspension of 781 number of staff for failing to be captured in the month of September, saving N50.6m
Recall that the state has been using Integrated Payroll Payment Gateway and Human Resource Information Management System (G-SIPHMIS), designed to save the state from high cost of governance thereby, reducing ‘ghost workers’.
Announcing this on Friday, during a Joint briefing Commissioner for Finance Muhammad Magaji, Head of Service Bappayo Yahaya, labour representative and G-SIPHMIS consultant, Magaji revealed that the 781 would not receive salaries this October.
Magaji said September enrollment 27 persons were absent for data capture in Funakaye LGA, adding that about 820 investigated in the month of September would receive their salaries amounting to N56.2m this October.
He said, “17 number of staff have been suspended from the payroll with the sum of N495, 729 have being removed from payroll. For Local Education Authority 10 number of staff did not show up N276, 514 . Total enrollment suspension for Funakaye is 27 number of staff with salaries of N722, 243.
“Number of staff suspended from payroll and will be investigated and won’t earn salaries for the month of October 322 number in secondary healthcare with salaries amounting to N36,167, 133, 51 number of staff have been suspended in Akko PHC amounting to 1,854, 649. In Billiri PHC 20 number of staff were suspended, in Dukku PHC 15 people have been suspended, in Gombe PHC 32 staff, Yalmatu Deba PHC 17 number of people, for Gombe LGA 99 number of staff, Gombe LEA 198 number were suspended.
“Total suspension due to insufficient attendance in the month of September 754 number of staff with salaries amounting to N49,908,186. Investigation in the month of September are those who will earn their salaries but will be investigated the total 820 number of staff their salaries amount to N56,254,753. Total suspension from payroll 781, salary suspended N50.6m.”
He said all the 11 local government areas as well the state employees have been captured, adding that there would be mop up to ensure no one was left behind for both State and LGA’s.
According to him, “This is the final opportunity for all those that have not been captured to make sure they are captured. This enrollment will continue till 11th November after which the final exercise will end. 11th of November is the last day for data capture. It is expected that by 11th of November all machines would have arrived and deployed across all local government areas.About 4,000 data capture machines will be distributed across the state including state and local government.”
On his part, Head of Service Bappayo Yahaya, urged workers to take the exercise seriously, adding that the time for being absent at work had gone.
He said, “My only advise to civil servants will be to take this assignment very serious. Workers should come to the office as at when due, the machines are coming.”
