Yahaya grants autonomy to Judiciary and Legislature in Gombe
Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, on Monday said his administration has granted autonomy to the legislative and Judicial arms of government.
Recall that at separate occasions workers of the two arms have embarked on industrial actions thereby, paralysing the economic activities.
Presenting the signed laws which grants autonomy to the two arms, shortly after the swearing in of five judges, Yahaya revealed that this would further boost the existing relationship between the arms of government.
He said, “Let me use this opportunity to assure the entire members of the judiciary and of course the legislature that we will continue to make available all necessary facilities that will enhance the effective discharge of your responsibilities.
“Our administration is committed to ensuring that we have strong and harmonious relationship between all arms of government. So far we have provided an enabling environment for both the legislative and Judiciary arms.
“There is no doubt that the relationship will provide a virile and strong democracy as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. In this regard, I have signed into law two bills on the autonomy of both the Judiciary and Legislature as a measure towards achieving autonomy, independence of these arms of government.
“I like to use this opportunity after this speech to present the new laws to the Acting Chief Judge and the honourable speaker Gombe State House of Assembly.”
While assuring of the the immediate application of the laws, the governor stressed that he would give the laws the much needed support.
“I will like to assure you that inshallah, we will ensure that the laws come to effect immediately,” Yahaya added.
