The Network and Advocacy Group Lux Terra Leadership Foundation has held its seventh Think Tank Meeting on 25th November 2021.

The meeting which took place at the Secretariat focused on how Nigeria of today is fast descending into tyrannical state.

Declaring the meeting open, Executive Director, Lux Terra Leadership Foundation, Rev Fr George Ehusani, expressed sadness about Nigeria’s current challenges adding that after 61 years of independence the country still struggling to stand, and not united by language, religion culture or any common national story.

He decried the weakening economy, rising insecurity and violent conflicts that are threatening the sovereignty of the nation. Calling on Nigerians to, amidst deepening distrust in government and other institutions, work together by telling one another the truth and holding fast to the truth which will eventually set the nation free.

A paper presented at the meeting by Elder Ayokunle Fagbemi, pointed out some emerging and pending issues of concern requiring the urgent attention of the secretariat. He also called on the team to step up advocacy and recommended visits to some strategic institutions and parastatals like INEC, NDLEA, Police Force, and the Executive Arm of the government, to wake them up to their responsibilities.

Other members stressed the importance of the family unit. They encouraged Nigerians to support one another in these hard times, adding that communities must take responsibility to develop strategies that can minimize if not prevent conflict, and also ensure that policies focus on citizens’ needs.

The meeting further suggested that, beginning from the year 2022, the Network and Advocacy Group should identify and promote  specific issues of concern, such as areas of developmental interest that can have a direct impact on the Nigerian people.

During the meeting, the coordinator of the Network and Advocacy Group, Dr Inya Ode, gave a brief on the activities of the secretariat, success stories and strategic meetings lined up for the Monitoring and Evaluation reports.

The next meeting of the Think Tank is scheduled for the first quarter of 2022.
