DIANA appoints Nigerian scholar vice president
Diaspora Academic Network for Africa (DIANA), has appointed Prof. Levi Nwankwo as the organisation’s vice president.
Nwankwo is a Professor of Earth and Environmental Physics and Director of Research and Development at Federal University Kashere, Gombe State, Nigeria.
The scholar has also served as the Principal (and Dean) of the College of Education, Open and Distance eLearning, Kampala International University, Uganda, and Founding Head of the Department of Geo-Physics, University of Ilorin, Nigeria.
Recall that Nwankwo, is also a Commonwealth (UK) and Erasmus Mundus (EU) scholar.
According to information on DIANA’s website, the organisation noted that it seeks to internationalise education, science and research training in African universities and related industrial organisation, while improving quality of education and research excellence in African universities i.e. through increased quantity and quality of teachers and research trainers from the diaspora pool.
The group revealed that it would Increase the capacity of research and education delivery of African universities and related education. Thereby facilitate Professional Mobility of the African intellectual diaspora with Africa
Fill research and teaching gaps in African countries.
“Undertake and facilitate the placement of African intellectual diaspora in African universities and related industrial organisations.
“Mobilise resources to facilitate the placement and contribution of African diaspora in the academics, scientific and technological and industrial developments of African countries,” DIANA added
