Goje absent as APC Committee lands in Gombe, promises another chance
All Progressives Congress (APC), reconciliation committee has arrived Gombe State following petition of the Senator representing Gombe central, Danjuma Goje.
The committee led by Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, Chairman All Progressives said they were in the state to have a first-hand knowledge of the brewing challenges in Gombe.
Briefing newsmen in the early hours of Friday, Adamu revealed that the committee would pass requisite position to the national body once Goje’s position is gathered.
He dismissed insinuations that the party is in a state of anarchy, adding that APC in Gombe is alive and strong.
Adamu said, “We are on a mission to reconcile any perceived misunderstanding, conflicts in our great party. After advertisement in six national dailies and NTA advising that anybody that wants to reach us will be provided ways and means to do so. In Gombe we received just one petition and the petition is from our colleague in the National Assembly, former governor of the state Senator Danjuma Goje, the petitioner.
“We have reason to be fair to hear him and those that the complaint was directed at unfortunately for us he is not with us here, so he is not here and we have listened very carefully to government. This government is our government the APC government, because it is illogical to clap with one hand, you must clap with two hands if you must be heard clapping.
“We will notwithstanding that it is the petitioner who did not turn up to the hearing of the petition but because we want to be as fair as we can, we want to go out of our way, the ordinary to listen to distinguished Senator Danjuma Goje, give him opportunity to come and address us as a committee. We will be taking together what his presentation will be and what we have seen and heard today and now see the advise to give to the party as to the way out. We have no doubt that the APC is strong, is alive notwithstanding that we don’t want to lose any body, in order to avoid war we have to prepare for war. Our interest is to see that those areas of conflict are resolved as quickly as possible.”
Commenting on who the leader of the party in the state is, Adamu noted that the governor is in charge of the APC in state, while the president is the leader at the national level alongside party executives who engage in day to day running of the party.
“There is only one driver in any vehicle and in any human organisation there is only one person who can lead even among cattle, I’m a cattle rearer but am not Fulani.
“If there is a herd of 100 cattle, you will be surprised you will see one of them in front and they will all follow, how much less of upper animal known as as human being we can’t have an outfit an organisation that has no leader. The head of government is the leader of the party. The governor in the federating unit including Gombe the governor is head and the president at the national,” Chairman said.
Also speaking, Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya lauded the efforts of the committee in ensuring peace in the party.
Yahaya said, “With the array of people the committee came to meet in Gombe are senior stakeholders who are representing various interest in the state and who are the representation of the party in Gombe.
“So, APC will continually wax stronger because we are one big family, focused on delivering on all demands of our party to the followers.”
