Gombe NSCDC denies Fulani attack on Billiri
Gombe State Commandant Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Samuel Wabulari has denied a viral memo suggesting that Fulani-herders had prepared to launch an attack on Billiri Local Government predominantly a Tangale dominated area.
The memo as sighted by our correspondent was signed on 17th December, 2021 by one Danjuma Mohammed, the Divisional Officer in charge of Yalmatu Deba, claimed that it was based on intelligence report.

According to Wabulari, there was never such intelligence, stressing that the corps has appropriate means of quelling such without resorting to causing undue panic.
Represented by Deputy Corps Commandant Ibrahim Meswok, Wabulari said the alleged investigation has not been presented to him formally, so the authenticity of the viral memo with the subject “Submission on Intelligence Report on the 17th December 2021”.
He noted that as such the memo should be disregarded and be termed as fake news and not emanating from his men.
Wabulari said, “I have directed that a committee be set up to investigate those that masterminded this act through the picture (camera particulars) that was used to capture the alleged memo. We are working hard to unravel the perpetrators, to know why, how, when.
“If the so called memo was genuine we as the authority will be the first to circulate it and not the other way round. We are virtually not aware of what is happening.”
Commenting on the authenticity of the memo, Wabulari added that, “even if it is from our men it has not come to this office. So because it has not come to this office any investigation, intelligence report of this magnitude it is expected that authority that is supposed to handle it is here and even if it is our men I want to who are these men that could have hacked this clandestine act.”
Also speaking, Command Public Relations Officer DSC Saad Buhari urged residents of the state to oblige the corps with relevant information towards arresting the perpetrators.
Buhari said with useful information the NSCDC in the state would arrest all forms of criminality without it eruption.
