Gombe senator distributes 50 cars, 500 motorcycles, others as empowerment
The senator representing Gombe north in Gombe State, Sa’idu Alkali on Sunday distributed 50 cars, 500 motorcycles to his constituents and irrigation and processing machines to 1,000 rice and maize farmers.
Alkali made this disclosure during the distribution of the items at APC square explaining that 600 refrigerators would also be given out to women drawn from various local governments of the senatorial zone at the event.
According to him, the gesture was to reciprocate the support he enjoys from the electorates who elected him for three terms.
He said within the last two years, he facilitated the construction of roads by the federal government in different parts of the state.
Alkali said, “We built blocks of classrooms, toilets and offices in several wards including Kunbiya-Kunbiya, Pantami, Hashidu and Jigawa wards and in Dukku community school.”
Speaking further, the third time senator claimed that he built a hospital at Ashaka ward that hosts the famous Ashaka cement factory, adding that he has purchased another house for conversion into hospital at Pantami ward with a view to complementing the state specialists hospital and the federal medical centre in the state.
Also speaking, Governor Muhammadu Yahaya lauded the senator for distributing the empowerment items to his constituents, adding that the gesture would mitigate poverty in the society.
Yahaya said on its part, the state government has ordered the payment of December salaries and gratuity for pensioners to enable the people of the state celebrate Christmas and new year festivals comfortably.
On his part, the special guest of honour and senate president Ahmad Lawan commended the state Governor Inuwa Yahaya and the host for their social welfare programmes to the people of the state stressing that if the executives and lawmakers work jointly towards improving the wellbeing of the citizens, poverty and criminality would reduce drastically in the nation.
