Group trains Benue family planning advocates on record keeping, others

A five-day capacity building training for Family Planning agents in the state has been rounded off in Makurdi with a charge on the trainees to take family planning advocacy and sensitization to the grassroots.
The training which was organised by the State Ministry of Health and Human Services in conjunction with the Primary Health Care Board, and about 40 participants were drawn from schools of Nursing, Mid-wiffery and Health Science Technology.
Declaring the training closed, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Joseph Ngbea, represented by the Director of Public Health, Dr Terna Kur, charged the participants to scale up the program by demonstrating the knowledge they acquired to their various schools.

At the training, Vice- Chairman, Centre for Reproductive Health, Dr Chisa Ogbuoja stressed the importance of family planning, pointing out that it prevents unwanted pregnancy and help child spacing.
Dr Chisa encouraged the participants of the training to be agents of change by taking the message to the schools and train people at the grassroots.
State Family Planning Coordinator, Comfort Sor said after the training, they would visit the Health schools to ensure that the Programmes and policies are fully implemented.
Speaking on behalf of the participants, Regina Ejale appreciated the State Government for facilitating the training for them and pledged to make adequate use of it to impact on the lives of people at the grassroots, whom she noted lacks adequate knowledge on family planning.
Our Correspondent reports that the participants were trained on record keeping, Information Management System and Contraceptive Logistics Management System, where the trainees were thought the rudiments and important of documentation of activities carried on clients.
Highlight was the distribution of Contraceptive materials including male and female condoms to the participants.
