Gombe NYSC commences insurance scheme for corps members
The Chairman Medical Advisory Committee, Federal Teaching Hospital (FTH) Gombe, Dr. Essien Abdulrazak, said National Health Insurance Scheme is set to take care of Corps members throughout the duration of the orientation course and the service year.
Abdulrazak, made this disclosure on Friday, during an interaction with the State Coordinator NYSC Gombe, Mrs Ada Imoni, at NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp Amada, Gombe State.
According to him, while the medical team treats Corps members, it would only give consultation to Camp Officials.
He said, “As soon as a prospective corps member picks up Call-up letter, which is the instrument that qualifies him or her for admittance into national service, until the end of his, her terminal leave, which is three weeks.
“After disengagement from service his or her medical needs are taken care of through the National Health Insurance Scheme ( NHIS). A big kudos to the Federal Government for the recent enrollment of Corps members into the NHIS.”
While receiving the team in her office, the State Coordinator NYSC Gombe, Imoni commended the effort of the team for work done so far and promised to give them the necessary assistance they required.
Imoni lauded the Federal Government’s interventions in prioritising the health of corps members in the state.
She said, “On behalf of the Director General of the NYSC, Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim, I want to appreciate the interaction and i promise to be having such meetings in the course of the Orientation Course.”
