Don’t exceed your limits, DPO Charges Searchlight members in Gombe
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of low-cost SP Safiyanu Sa’idu, has charged Searchlight Private Detectives of Nigeria (SPDN), to work under the ambit of law without exceeding their limits in discharging their responsibilities.
He made the charge during a familiarisation visit paid to him at his office by the members and staff of the SPDN for them to cement the gap in between to work as colleagues where necessary.
He said his door is always open for them in case of any assistance or collaboration because working as a team would bring positive results.
Sa’idu stressed that no matter what the Police force cannot work everywhere having another organisation would ease their duty and also help.
According to him, he knew Searchlight a long time ago and had problems with some of its officials.
Sa’idu said, “Now since it is in the past let’s draw a line and continue from where we stopped, especially as the organisation has dismissed some bad eggs among them we will forge ahead and collaborate.
“In every organisation there are bad ones like in the police now just recently the police service commission brought out Abba Kyari’s fault without which the world won’t know what transpired.
He assured the SPDN of his division’s support, while urging them to work hard for the world to know them better.
Sa’idu appreciated the organisation and advised them to be very careful on their day to day activities and that they should maintain law and order, without
exceeding their limitation as they were given by the Nigerian constitution.
In his response, the state controller Searchlight private Detectives Gombe state Command Alhaji Rabilu Abubakar, on behalf of the Controller General Prince Akinloye Ogunmodede, lauded the low-cost division, adding that with such collaborations the country would enjoy development.
Abubakar, told the DPO that the searchlight he knows is still the searchlight but that they had made some changes.
“That’s why we paid you and your team visit to know and from henceforth, there is nothing searchlight will do without seeking your division’s input,” Abubakar said.
He added that the members of searchlight were working day and night in gathering intelligence towards crime prevention, promising that they would not go beyond their limits.
