ECWA Goodnews Gombe Catch-the-Fire Prayer Crusade: Gombe Deputy Governor charges Clergymen on youths restiveness, drugs, others
Gombe State Deputy Governor, Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau, has charged Religious leaders to assist in curbing menace of drugs in youths towards a godly society.
The Deputy Governor was addressing the congregation during a crusade organized by ECWA Headquarters at Goodnews Church, GRA, Gombe.

He expressed delight that the crusade made people surrender their charms and other fetish items but was quick to add that until the youths are ready to surrender their drugs and bad behavior, it is not yet over.
He called on the Religious Leaders to double efforts in addressing problems of crime and other illicit behavior for a peaceful and crime free society that will be a better place for all.
He said, “As a Criminologist, and Chairman, Committee on Drugs and Narcotics in the state, I know that, charms have the same effect as drugs, therefore I would have loved to see drugs forming part of those items that were surrendered for burning” adding ” go and set “fire” on the youths to surrender their drugs and denounce their bad behaviours”.
He explained that their administration in Gombe State acknowledges the place of prayer in the success of every sphere of live, hence the hosting of prayer crusades and religious programs in the state, adding that the door is always open to accommodate more.
The Deputy Governor seized the opportunity to condole the ECWA International President and all members over death of Rev. Dr. Simon Ibrahim whom he said was his English and Hausa Teacher in the seventies and happened to be an ECWA Trustee until his death.
Delivering the sermon,the ECWA International President, Rev. Dr. Stephen Panya Baba preached on the topic” Spread the Fire” charged the congregation to strive to born the fire, catch the fire, and spread the fire.

Taking his texts from second Chronicles chapter seven verse fourteen to fifteen, Isaiah sixty two verse six to seven and Acts Chapter two verse seventeen etc, the ECWA President pointed out that the fire of revival can only come when the Church becomes humble in seeking the forgiveness of God, and God will fulfill his part by hearing from heaven, forgiving them and healing the land.
He stressed that Christians needs the fire for it’s dual function of sanctification and judgement as well as they need the rain of the spirit for power, assuring them that the time of revival has come.
He then led a session of prayers to the congregation and the burning of charms, including demonic ring surrendered by repentant persons who now believe that there is no superior power than the Almighty God.
The ECWA President appreciated the hospitality of Gombe and people of Gombe State, praying God to reward their service.
The ECWA Assistant General Secretary, Rev. Samuel Atu, and the Convener of prayers, Rev Dr. Sunday Kongo appreciated the Deputy Governor and all those who contributed in the success of catch-the-fire prayer crusade.
