Investment Certification: Gombe takes lead in the North East
Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has said his administration will key into the Nigeria Investment Certification programme of the Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), whose primary objective seeks to support the state’s promote, attract and manage investments.
The Governor made this disclosure at the two-day capacity building training for line Ministries, Departments and Agencies organised by Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission in collaboration with the state investment and property development Company.
This exercise began since 2016 with Ogun,Osun and Oyo States to have successfully completed certified.
Represented by the Commissioner for Commerce,Trade and Industries Alhaji Nasiru Mohammed, Governor Yahaya explained that other benefits of the certification would be to improve the capacity of states to document necessary investment related information that would guide investors to the state.
He stated that given the disposition of his administration to diversification of economy through the promotion of industrialisation,trade and commerce to fight poverty, hunger and unemployment by creating jobs also described the training as timely for the state.
In a remark, the Secretary to the State Government Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi said the training of relevant stakeholders in investment drive is timely owing to the fact that the Inuwa Yahaya led administration is focused in repositioning economic fortunes of the state, particularly in harnessing the huge potentials of natural resources which includes; solid mineral, hydrocarbon and Agricultural potentials which are in abundance.
Represented by the Director General Public Service Reforms Yusuf Daudu Kaltungo, the SSG said the State has embarked on the construction of the Muhammadu Buhari industrial Park to help in engaging the unemployed graduates and appreciated the NIPC for identifying Gombe in the North East as it’s first point of call for interaction assuring of government support.
Speaking earlier, the Managing Director/ CEO of the Gombe State Investment and Property Development Company Mr. Mu’awiyya Faruk noted that the two day technical coaching engagement would help the State’s technical team come up with a template that will be used in driving the investment potentials of the Jewel state.
Muawiya said, the programme being one of a kind in the North East region was in line with the Gombe State Investment and Property Development Company’s desire of coming up with innovation aimed at making Gombe State more friendly to potential investors.
In his remark, the Director Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission Shetima Barma Commended the Gombe State Government’s political will towards the issue of development and the zeal to defeat poverty in the State.
Barma said part of the government commitment is the engagement that has to do with the citizens well-being, noting with delight that Gombe state would attain its vision and mission of sustaining development goals which revolves around critical growth enablers and growth drive for modern economy as expressly captured in inspiring mission and vision statement of development goals DEVAGOM focusing on Information Documentation and Marketing of investment potentials.
The capacity building is expected to engage relevant line MDA’s for deliberations and interaction on how to collectively work together to achieve goals and objectives of government to meet up the target of the five star rating requirement with all the required enablers for investment.
