Six years after Gombe State Sports Commission moves to end water crisis in Pantami Stadium
In its effort to solve lingering water problem at the Pantami township Stadium, Gombe State Sports Commission embarked on rehabilitation works on two boreholes.
The boreholes were said to have been abandoned over 6 years ago which initially served as source of water to the number one sporting facility in the State.

Speaking at the commencement of work, the Chairman of the Gombe State sports commission, Olanre Larry Daniel said the importance of water to sporting activities can never be overemphasized.
He noted that the commission thought it important to restore water, thereby enduring the over six years of dependence on tanker services.

Daniel said, “Having observed the water problem and moreso owing to the fact that water is one of the basic criteria for a stadium operation and management in view of it essentiality to; drinking, prayers and encouragement and watering of the football pitch among others, the commission deemed it necessary to embark on the rehabilitation work.
“We have purchased the two (2) submersible pump which was the major problem of the boreholes, acquired other requirements and employed the services of the state water Cooperation to fix and service them for proper usage so that the issue of water will be tackled head long.
“Before now, we have been using water tank to supply water which is very inadequate.”

The Commission Chairman who also inspected other facilities with other members of staff also lauded Governor Muhammadu Yahaya for the immeasurable support in moving the State forward especially in the area of sports development.
He also revealed that after the rehabilitation of the two Boreholes, piping of all the stadium would be thoroughly checked to ensure free flow and adequate water supply in the vicinity.
Daniel who assumed office recently also assured that he would do everything possible within available resources to improve the fortunes of sports in the State.
