A One-time High Commissioner to Malaysia, Ibrahim Yarima Abdullahi, has decried the lack of inequality and injustice in the country, adding that legal system was expected to give residents peace of mind.

He stated that Nigerians should resolve to obeying lawless, describing law offenders as outlaws.

Abdullahi, who once superintendent Nigeria’s Ministry of Education Science and Technology, made this disclosure in an interview with select journalists in Gombe State.

According to him, there were alot to be proud about the country, revealing that the peace of the country should not be compromised by whatever standard.

Abdullahi said, “We have to draw the attention of the government about the inequalities and lack of justice that is being practiced in the society.

“We can’t run away because we belong to Nigeria and it is a question of our country. If the legal system can’t give us citizens rest of mind then we are in trouble.”

Commenting further the former Minister of Education, Science and Technology, harped on the need for Nigerians to pray for peaceful co-existence of the country, adding that in whatever language God would answer.

“On my own personal decision to pray to my creator Allah and I’m urging all Nigerians by whatever name they call Allah because in all languages you have Allah we should pray to him to restore peace and tranquility in the country to improve our economic progress.

“I’m appealing to Muslims and non Muslims and I’m urging them to use whatever name to speak to Allah to restore peace. We have every reason to be proud of our country Nigeria. The fact remains that there are inequalities and injustice, so whose fault is the injustice,” Abdullahi added.

The Octogenarian who refused to indict the judiciary advised that justice should be seen to be done, adding that Nigeria belongs to everyone.

He said, “I want to appeal to the people through your platforms to appeal to the judiciary; from top to bottom, I’m not saying they are all not doing their work they are but Justice must be seen, felt and heard. We should raise a standard of justice and remove inequalities in our society. We can’t continue like this we have to make all Nigerians feel happy where ever they may be living and it belongs to us.”

Speaking on agitations for amendment of constitution Abdullahi, said the country may not attain a perfect document through the process, stressing that there is no perfect system.

“If I can meet or see those agitating for amending the constitution I will like to ask them what part of the constitution because so far we have started and abandoned it over and over again we are still agitating for it to be amended. There is no perfection you can never have perfect constitution. I don’t see us attaining perfection by amending the constitution because there is no way we can attain a perfect constitution. We should be working with the existing constitution to make progress,” Abdullahi added.

He also cautioned politicians in the country to play politics with the best of intentions, geared towards improving the living conditions of the people.

According to Abdullahi, people without vision should not venture into politics, rather it should be for those with foresight and desire to get the much needed development.

He said, “First of all, if we claim to be politician, and if genuinely you are doing politics then you know your basic thing is the country itself and you want the best for your country and it is because you have a country you can join politics.

“They have launched new ones in addition to APC and PDP, the point is if you are joining politics it is good but join with the best of intentions, to help your country to a civilised level but if they want to destroy the country then such person is wasting his time because majority of Nigerians are good people.”

He continued saying, “If you sit down to belly-ache, citizens should criticise the government to make them to do the right thing but I will not like to see a situation where we ourselves (politicians) will turn to destroy the country.”

While urging for peace, Abdullahi said the fact that youths disagreed infers that they are thinking, adding that he had occasions to disagree with rulers in his active years.

Abdullahi added, “Youths across the federation Rivers, Bayelsa because the future belongs to them; what we are doing now is to prepare the way for them to operate, it will be useful for them to bear in mind that will have a country that they deserve to be proud of and anything that will destroy this country.

“We should avoid and if you are today a youth and you haven’t got what you want, for me when I was a youth I didn’t get all I want and I didn’t agree with our rulers in those days. If you disagree with rulers of today it is normal and it means you are thinking, the important thing is for the youth to think positively and not just to destroy them to avoid destruction.”
