Gombe agog as Dankwambo returns after three years
Gombe metropolis on Saturday was agog as former Governor of Gombe State Dr. Ibrahim Dankwambo returned after three years.
Dankwambo a one time Accountant General of Nigeria, is the immediate past governor of Gombe State, before the assumption of Governor Muhammadu Yahaya of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The former governor who was absent at the swearing in of his successor Yahaya, in 2019, had refrained from speaking, despite allegations on financial recklessness by the APC led government, saying that he would react at the appropriate time.
Thronged the Gombe Airport Lawanti include; Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftains, political associates and supporters that formed long queue and eventual gridlock leading to the metropolis.
Dankwambo whose chartered flight touched down few minutes before 2pm, acknowledged his supporters with wave of hands before moving straight to his vehicle.

Speaking briefly in an interview with journalists at the Lawanti Airport, PDP chairman Maj. Gen. Abner Kwaskebe (retd.) said the politician has become not just a state leader, but has metamorphosed to a national leader.
Kwaskebe revealed that the former governor’s achievements were immeasurable, unhidden and apt.
He revealed that Dankwambo’s return was historic following the duration he had stayed without visiting the state.
The chairman said they were at the airport to show the former governor solidarity, adding that the visit would help strengthen the party ahead of its preparation for 2023 election.
Arriving the party’s secretariat amidst cheers from from supporters, Dankwambo urged party members not to make the mistake that led to the coming of the current administration.
He described the loss of PDP as regrettable, but emphasised that it would be rectified in the coming polls.
Dankwambo said, “We made a mistake in 2019, we should not repeat the same mistake in 2023. We should get ready.”
