Monarch advocates for credible local govt elections in Nigeria
The Mai Kaltungo Engineer Saleh Mohammed has advocated for credible elections at the Local Government level to allow for patriotic and committed individuals to emerge leaders.

Addressing the participants of Executive Course 44′ the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies in his palace, Mohammed said this is the only way the third tier of government would deliver on its mandate.
He described as unfortunate the shabby elections that produces unpatriotic leaders as chairmen and councillors breeding corruption at the detriment of the people’s development.

He said, “local government autonomy can only be meaningful if those that run their affairs are chosen by the people in a modest and transparent manner.”
Commenting on the role of the traditional institution in advancement of local governance, the Mai added, “we don’t need constitutional backing to contribute as peaceful coexistence remains our primary concern.”
The team lead of the Executive Course 44 of NIPSS participants Dr. Emmanuel Mamman explained that the team is researching the theme, “strengthening local governance” with emphasis on challenges, options and opportunities in Gombe State.
Mamman said the study is aimed at advising on ways to improve service delivery at the grassroot.
The team had earlier interacted with leadership and management staff of Akko and Shongom local governments in addition to inspection of the on-going construction of Kumo General Hospital.
