Gombe Gov promises agrieved aspirants compensation
Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, on Wednesday inaugurated All Progressives Congress (APC), reconciliation committee with the assurance of compensating aggrieved aspirants where necessary.
The State party leader made this disclosure while performing the task of constituting a 21-member committee, whom he charged to suggest ways the aggrieved persons could be realigned to get opportunities due to them in the party.
Yahaya explained that it was inevitable for issues not to arise, assuring that the committee would draw up ways future crises would be mitigated.
He said, “Why we constituted this committee is for us to reconcile, as humans there are some areas that we have to sort out and make sure there is clear understanding between all our followers, contestants and equally the leadership of the party.
“This is with the view of having one united family that can fight to deliver APC at all levels, from National to state levels. The assignment is very clear to identify aggrieved members of APC following the outcome following the outcome of the last primary election. To discuss with members with the view towards reconciling any differences that might have arose.”
The Governor added, “To suggest proper solutions for realignment of such members and any compensation that is due to them; meaning that we create opportunities for whoever that is aggrieved because we are our brother’s keepers we will make sure we carry them along to get whatever they can get from the party. To suggest ways and means we can avoid similar occurrences in the future.”
Speaking earlier, Chairman of Gombe State APC Nitte Amangal said the constitution of the committee was in line democratic tenets.
Amangal added that this would strengthen the party into overwhelming victory in 2023.
On his part, Deputy Governor, Dr. Manassah Jatau, who doubles as the Chairman of the reconciliation committee promised that the would carry out its responsibility with fairness.
While urging his members to keep to time, Jatau said the committee which has a two-week period to complete its terms and reference would commence sitting on Thursday.
“We are aware that the task ahead is difficult, despite this I’m confident that with the calibre of members of this committee it shall be surmounted,” Jatau said.
