Police arrest fake dollar, naira handlers in Gombe
Gombe State Police Command on Thursday said it operatives have arrested a 19-year old Bayero Adamu with fake 100 US dollar notes, along side two other suspects with counterfeited N1000 denomination.
Parading the suspects, Commissioner of Police Ishola Babaita urged residents to be law abiding, vigilant and harvest information on suspicious characters in their midst, adding that they should report to the nearest police stations suspected movements.
Babaita explained that upon receipt of complaints, Police detectives from Gombe Division swung into action, adding that they were found with incriminating evidence.

He said, “Mohammed Bayero Adamu aged 19 years of London maidorawa area of Shamaki ward Gombe LGA Gombe State. He was arrested on receipt of the complaint through a resident that a suspected person was found in possession of counterfeit US dollar currency note 45 pieces, of $100 note denomination.
“During the course of investigation the said suspect revealed that the counterfeit note belonged to one, alias Garke (FNU) who is still at large. Case will be charged to court as effort is emplaced to arrest the fleeing suspect.”
Speaking further about the spate of counterfeited currencies in the state, Babaita added, “Danladi Abdullahi aged 30 years and Bello Garba aged 20years from Kumo. It was one resident from Pantami quarters Gombe, that reported at the SCID Gombe that two suspects were found in possession of fake naira note N1000 denomination .
“On receipt of the information detectives from Anti fraud SCID State headquarters Gombe arrested the above mentioned suspects in possession of the fake naira note currency. Case under investigation and will soon be charged to court for prosecution.”
Babaita expressed commitment to the security of residents, assuring that all criminal cases would be transparently investigated and charged to court.
