Military, Christians who kill others in self-defence are sinners – Gombe Cleric
A Gombe-based cleric Pst. Mark Mijinyawa of the Word Alive Kingdom Community has on Tuesday, described military men and those who kill other people in self-defence as sinners.
Speaking to his congregation during the beginning of a two-day programme tagged ‘Kingdom Experience 2022’, stressed that defaulters are doing so in contrast to the commandant of God.
Recall that there have been debates about the acceptance of Christians to bear arms in self-defence, following renewed onslaught in worship centres especially the recent killings at a Catholic church in Ondo State.
According him, God in the ten commandment as given to Moses emphasised thou shall not kill, adding that God did not state any justification for killing anyone, hence there was no reason for any kind of killing.
He explained that it was never the intention of God for human beings to kill, urging christians to adopt the pattern of “Jesus who was like a sheep before his shearer.”
Mijinyawa said, “Self-defence to kill somebody is a sin, when have you started defending yourselves at the expense of God let me do it my own way, Jesus is our father.”
Commenting further the preacher, lampooned military officers who also kills, adding that they were not exempted.
“Military men that kill is a sin, you don’t like what am saying but I will say it. Self-defence to kill somebody is a sin, when have you started defending yourself at the expense of God?” Mijinyawa added.
Mijinyawa noted that if anger on its own can be termed murder according to the new testament, stressing that Christians should not go as far as murder.
