Kaltungo Central Mosque commissioning: Yahaya harps tolerance
Gombe Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has again called on people of the state to embrace tolerance and love for one another in order to allow for speedy development of the State.
The Governor who made the call at Commissioning of the reconstructed Kaltungo Central Mosque also appealed for continued support to his administration in it’s quest to provide needed basic infrastructure necessary for the socio economic growth of the State.
While commending the foresight of Mai and people of Kaltungo in initiating the reconstruction and remodeling of the Mosque, the Governor also appreciated all those who contributed to the building project.

The guest speaker at the event, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami praised the Muslim Ummah for deeming it fit to build a befitting place of worship explaining that any one that built a mosque or contributed towards same Allah has already provided him a place in paradise.

Pantami also reminded them of the importance of mosque, adding that is not only for worship but also for education, vocational training, promotion of justice and social interaction of the people.

Earlier in an address of welcome, the chairman of the mosque building committee and the Secretary to the State Government Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi disclosed that the mosque was initially built in 1968 with a capacity for 250 worshippers and with the astronomical growth in muslim population the need for expansion became imperative.
Njodi also said following the constitution of the committee which according to him was its fifth attempt by the Mai Kaltungo Engr. Sale Muhammadu, work commenced immediately with contributions from Muslim and non Muslims alike culminating into successful completion of the project in three years.
He said, “2500 capacity mosque is equipped with women section, toilets and a library for research and advancement of Islamic education was built at cost of 269 million naira only.”
In their respective remarks the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-kanemi and Mai Kaltungo Muhammadu appreciated all those who contributed and attended the commissioning ceremony.
The event which was attended by dignitaries from far and wide also had in attendance thousands of well wishers.
