This is contained in a press statement issued to newsmen in Gombe on Wednesday by Adamu Ahmed, the Director of Media and Administration of the club.
Our correspondent reports that Mailantarki boys went into the game as ‘Double Champions’ a nickname originated from the club’s double victory in the just concluded 2022 International Youth Championship in both Denmark and Norway.
Ahmed said chances came begging for the sensational forward Miko Dalha who operated from the flank for the most duration of the encounter, just 12 minutes into the game his fellow incredible Auwal Abba sent an inviting cross inside the box to the part of the former, just for the lad to sent his effort over the crossbar.
According to him, four minutes later it was Auwal Abba who failed to hit the target after Miko Dalha fed him from the inside box, Auwal failed to apply more energy to his attempt as Flight FC’s defense cleared away the danger across the goal to deny us an early lead.
“Moments after Miko Dalha wasted another effort inches away from the far post, the lad brilliantly sent a promising past that opened up flight defense for Auwal Abba to score an opener 2 minutes after the hour mark.
“The unending pressure against the Boko-based club yielded results as we increased as lead via Gabriel Emezie who dispossessed Adah Anthony in his half before making his inside box and sent the supporters into wild jubilation.”
The forward scored a beauty by curling his right-footed effort beyond the stretched hand of the Flight goalie to the far post.
Mailantarki boys went to the locker room with a comfortable lead and as well enjoyed a large share of the possession with Victor Ochai and Abdul at the helm of affairs.
However, Flight FC changed the game momentum in their favor after the break as they produced some couple of attacking displays, thanks to our center halves captain Joshua Gaku and Abdulbasit Bayo who produced some brilliant moments of defensive effort against the opponent’s threats.
Abdulbasit Bayo put a stops to some dangers while Gaku Joshua formed a walk of himself to block a goal-bound strike from Flight’s Aghekim Gerald 15 minutes from time, thanks to our Man between the sticks Victor Elias for parrying away a dangerous set piece earlier.
The media officer said coach Umar Zango’s tactical substitutions by replacing Adamu Gambo for Auwal Abba helps his side countered opponent’s pressure and changed the game traffic in our favour as well.
Life was made difficult for the opponent once more after the lively forward Sadiq MB made his way in place of Miko Dalha at the hour mark.
Sadeeq could have added more beauty to his highly spirited display with a goal just for the striker to crash over an unguarded net, the forward came under defense pressure after he did well to dribble Flight’s shot-stopper in the build-up late into the game.
Mailantarki boys held on to their two goals lead to the end of the game and secured a place in the 2023 NNL season as well as the NLO super 8 scheduled to hold in Lagos next month, winners of the Super 8 will be crowned the overall champions of the 2022 NLO.
The Coach Manu Garba OON led technical crew also guided the team to another debut feat for playing in the final of Abuja AITEO Cup and represented the FCT at National level.
