Facts about Acting Chief Judge of Gombe State

No doubt, the Secretary to the Gombe State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, who was the immediate Vice -Chancellor of University of Maiduguri has described the swearing in of Justice Halima Sadiya Mohammed, as the Acting Chief Judge of Gombe State as another milestone in view of the fact she is the second woman to be appointed as Acting Chief Judge under the administration of Governor Inuwa Yahaya.
The 59- year-old Amazon, Justice Mohammed was born on 3rd, May 1963 and hailed from Tula in Kaltungo Local Government Area of Gombe State where she attended her Primary education from 1969 to 1975 in Billiri, Queen Elizabeth School, from 1975 to 1980 in IIorin where she obtained her First Leaving School and WAEC certificates, respectively.
The Young Halima Sa’addiya Mohammed who was desirous of acquiring education, first obtained her IJMB certificate from Bauchi College of Arts and Science (BACAS) from 1980 to 1982 before proceeding to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1982 and graduated with LLB (Hon) Degree in 1985 and she was called to Bar in 1986 while in 1987 she did her one year mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC).
This talented Halima went further to acquire her LLB (Masters of Law) degree at the prestigious University of Jos, in Plateau State from 1999 to 2001 and also obtained a certificate in computer studies.
The roll -calls of notable Nigerians and mammoth crowd that attended her swearing in on Wednesday at the Banquet Hall, Government House Gombe are the attestations of the personality of the jurist. Some of them are; Deputy Governor, Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau, Speaker of Gombe State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Luggerewo, the outgoing CJ, Justice Joseph Awak, Grand Khadi, Hon. Abdullahi Maikano Usman, former CJs Justices Hakila Y. Heman, Muazu Pindiga, Emirs and Chiefs, top government functionaries, members of the Nigeria Bar Association among others.
It really shows that her appointment as the most senior jurist is truly deserving where merits, competency, professionalism and visionary leadership were some of the qualities of the new Acting Chief Judge of Gombe State.
No wonder the charismatic Justice Mohammed started her working career as a State Counsel 11 with the defunct Bauchi State in the Ministry of Justice in 1987 and through dint of hard-work, dedication, commitment and patriotism, she rose through the normal promotions to the post of Deputy Chief Registrar (Process and Litigation) in 2000 and she was appointed as a High Court Judge of Gombe State Judiciary in 19th June,2001.
Mohammed has served as Chairman and member of several Governorships and Legislative Election Petition Tribunal in various States of the Federation with landmark judgement recorded.
She also attended several capacity development courses and conferences both within and outside the country.
Committed to her duties with humble disposition,Justice Mohammed, was also a member of several professional associations and unions, she was a High Court Judge in the Gombe State Judiciary before her appointment and swearing in as the Acting Chief Judge of the State by the Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
