Gombe Police Command express dismay over flagrant disregard of rules

Gombe State Police Command on Tuesday expressed total dismay that ground rules agreed upon by all political parties as the campaigns kick- off have been broken with impunity.
CP Ishola Babaita said, however, barely as the campaigns kick start, to the dismay of the Command some Political Parties Flagrantly abused the prohibition of certain conduct at political campaigns under section 92 sub 1,2,3,4 and 5 of the Electoral Act 2022 which carries punishment of imprisonment for a term or fine as stipulated punishment under sub section 7 and 8 of the Electoral Act- 2022.
In the statement by ASP Mahid Muazu Abubakar, the police public Relations Officer added that police Command would take drastic action for violators of the law
In this regard the Command under the watch of CP Ishola Babaita have warned that any person or group of persons who violates the provisions of Electoral Act 2022 by engaging thuggery and use of dangerous weapons like Cutlass, Sticks, daggers or knives during Political campaigns, processions and rallies in public will be arrested alongside their sponsors and prosecuted accordingly.
It may be recalled that on the 19th September, 2022 the Commissioner of Police, Gombe State Police Command CP. Ishola B. Babaita invited all Political Party Leaders in Gombe State for an interactive session in preparation for political campaigns, rallies and procession in public, ahead of the 2023 General Elections where ground rules where discussed and agreed upon by all political parties in the state.
