Obi: Why One million march flopped in Gombe
Unlike many cities where the one million march organised by supporters of Peter Obi, Candidate of the Labour Party has recorded mammoth crowd same was not as Gombe, our correspondent gathered.
Jennifer Danjuma, in an interview with our correspondent blamed it on sensitisation of youths and their desire to ensure change.
She noted that participants were less than 500 at the scene.
Our correspondent reports that in nearby Bauchi, where a similar walk held it was adjudged successful, Gombe State was however an opposite.
According to her, if she had not sighted them on Saturday, she would have argued that it never happened in the state .
Danjuma said, “I saw the group slighting in their hundred walking down through the market road and i was in my car, driving pass. I was so excited that at least it held in our state but I expected to see more people especially the youths but I saw just a few of them participating in the walk.”
Blaming the turnout on the publicity, Danjuma said she would have joined the move if she knew about the walk.
“Infact there was no noise about the movement, if I knew about it perhaps I would have participated because I’m really tired of the entire system from top to bottom there is need for overhauling and Peter Obi is the way out.
Attempts made to reach the Gombe State Labour Party Chairman Sani Abdulsalam proved abortive, on possible reasons for the poor turnouts.
Sani, also doubles as chairman conference of Labour Party state chairmen.
