Gombe restates commitment to provide residents potable water
The Gombe State Government has reiterated its determination in providing potable drinking water to the people of the state.

The Commissioner, Ministry of Water Resources, Mijinyawa Yahaya made this known while briefing newsmen shortly after he led a delegation on an inspection of the water supply rehabilitation and expansion project which is ongoing at different areas of the state.
According to Yahaya, potable water is one of the most important things that human beings need in order to survive.

He disclosed that as the reason why the Federal and the State Government joined efforts together to realise the project.
He said, “includes the provision of booster stations in Tumfure, special development zone and NTA to ensure that all nooks and crannies of the city of the state have access to water supply.”
The commissioner explained that adequate provisions have been made to avoid any fault, therefore there will be the use of electricity, generator, and sunlight to ensure effective service delivery after the completion of the expansion and rehabilitation project.
Also speaking, an official of the Implementation Agency, Ag. General Manager, Gombe state water board Engr. Abubakar Sadiq Muhammad, expressed satisfaction with the level of progress made by the contractor of the ongoing project.
He noted that the board has been a part of the project since the beginning of the contract and as been following up on everything that has been done.
Our Correspondent reports that on the 11th of may this year, the state Governor Alh. Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, during the State Executive Council meeting, made available over N11 Billion for the rehabilitation and expansion of water supply in Gombe with a completion period of 24 months.
