Insecurity is caused by poor upbringing, says Gombe Deputy Gov
By Ben Ngwakwe, Gombe
The issue of insecurity in the country has become a national discourse in the political space involving views from divergent groups and sectors in both academia, intellectual, technocrats, politicians and the general public.

Making this assertion, a sociologist who is also the Gombe Deputy Governor, Manassah Daniel Jatau identified poor family upbringing, failure of religion as causes of insecurity in the country.

According to the statement from his media aide Jack Tasha, the Deputy Governor who was Special Guest of Honour at the God’s Glorious Tabernacle of Witness Tumfure, noted that, “if unemployment were the cause, all unemployed youths would have engaged in crime.”
The statement added that the failure of religion and poor family upbringing as the root cause of the perennial insecurity causing havoc in the society.

He called on religious leaders to intensify teachings to their members with a view to ensuring that the youths who are the vibrant population gets deeply rooted in respecting family values and religious tenets for a better society.
The Deputy Governor explained that, “the state of affairs in the nation is characterised by economic hardship, perennial insecurity, dilapidated infrastructure calls for the need for more of the word of God.”

He was quick to add that, “the happening is the fulfilment of Second Timothy Chapter Two which warned of hard times coming upon humanity in the last days, and the Book of Ecclesiastes Chapter 12, which warns the youths to remember their creator before the times come when they will say, they find no pleasure in them”.
The Deputy Governor commended the Church especially the God’s Glorious Tabernacle of Witness for contributing to the sustainability of the state and the nation through imparting the needed religious virtues and prayers.
In his sermon, Pastor Dr. Meshach Alfa, a Senior Lecturer of Engineering with University of Jos, Plateau State, admonished the congregation on issues of information coding, believe systems, faith, satanic manipulations, and spiritual manifestations.
Taking his texts from Ezekiel Chapter 1 and 2, Proverbs Chapter 24 verse 10-11, and Isaiah Chapter 40;28-29, the clergyman said, man is operating between two spiritual forces,: God who desires to strengthen him and satan who desires to weakened or destroy him.
He said, the choice is of the man to either choose God for his inspiration and strength or choose satan for his downfall.
Pastor Alfa highlighted the strategy of Satan to use negative information, as seen and heard in the social and conventional media today, to manipulate the human mind negatively, so that man does not focus on the positive things God is doing to humanity.
Drawing reference from the story of Israelites in Egypt, how God used plaques on Pharaoh and brought them out, but became discouraged when confronted with the red sea, hills and the Egyptian Army behind them, and in the event chose to die according to their declaration, stressing that they later died in the wilderness except for Joshua and Caleb who had a positive mindset.
He noted that, when Christians chose to think positively, having faith and believing in the power of God, they will live a successful Christian life filled with joy.
The Pastor in charge of the Church, Rev. Christopher Godebe, welcomed the Deputy Governor and appreciated him for finding time to worship with them, praying God to bless him.
