The National Directorate of Employment (NDE), has embarked on a four-day sensitisation for no fewer than 30 participants in understanding the realities of the country’s economy.
Our correspondent reports that this was organised for graduates of enviropreneurship development scheme, with the theme; ‘basic business training for 2022 graduates of enviropreneurship development scheme’ under the Small Scale Enterprises (SSE) department.
Addressing the participants, Director-General Abubakar Fikpo, explained that the training would help trainees conceptualise their chosen area of business into feasible business ideas, adding that they would be reoriented to write business plans or feasibility study.
Fikpo, who was represented by Acting State Coordinator Jidel Stephen, disclosed that the training would pave way for efficiency and effectiveness in managing business, stressing that the 30 participants would be better equipped to manage business in the present economic trend.
He said, “To sensitise participants to the economic realities of Nigeria labour market and encourage them to opt for the self-employment option as a career.
“To counsel the participants to choose the type of business that fits the skills learnt during their three months of intensive enviropreneurship training.
“To link the participants with relevant stakeholders and other financial institution that will assist them in funding their chosen business projects with start-up capitals. The training will also involve sensitisation of the participants on the type of business to embark upon based on their interest, skills, and competences.”
While urging the participants to pay wrapped attention to instructors, Fikpo advised them to derive value from the huge investment of the Federal Government.
“The government concept of employment has transcended the traditional limit of providing paid jobs in its offices and other institutions, the emphasis now is on self-employment and self-reliance.
“I therefore admonish you to be careful and pay the most attention needed during the technical session so as to comprehend the basic knowledge of running business,” Fikpo added.
Also speaking, Director of SSE, Akpakasa Sunday, who was represented by Aisha Sani, commended the Directorate for the training, adding that participants should utilise the chance.
Sunday said, “Count yourselves lucky because it is not all NDE’s training that you will have two trainings. You are been equipped with basic business training. Please try and learn it because it is very important.”
