Police uncover fake fertiliser trader in Gombe
A fake fertiliser supplier, Magaji Inuwa, from Ningi town of Bauchi State has been arrested by police in Gombe State for allegedly duping farmers in Sambodaji village of Akko local government area of Gombe State the sum of N800, 000.
According to Gombe State Police Commissioner, Ishola Babaita disclosed the suspect who was nabbed by the its operatives attached to the State Intelligence Bureau on 5th November 2022 defrauded the farmers under the pretext of supplying fertiliser and other farm implements to them which he did not and fled with their money.
He said, “The suspect however fraudulently collected the sum of over N800, 000 from various farmers of the said community where he switched off all his phones and absconded with the money to unknown destination.
“Suspect has voluntarily confessed to the crime. Two Jincheng motorcycles were recovered as exhibits. Case will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.”
The commissioner added that earlier on 1st November 2022, they apprehended a mechanic one Muhammad Muhammad Bappah aged 27 years old for allegedly stealing a Peugeot 406 with original documents worth N850,000 belonging to his client.
He said they arrested the mechanic following a formal complaint from the owner one Manu Siddiki of Orji quarters in the state capital who alleged that the mechanic trailed him after repairing his car and allegedly stolen it.
Babaita further stated that the suspect had allegedly dismantled the car into parts and sold it in Bauchi to one Sani Suleiman and one Osama Shehu respectively.
