By Samson Adeyemo
Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has registered his name in the score cards as he fires in winner for Brazil to qualify his country into the round of 16 of the Qatar 2022 World Cup. The only goal of the match against Switzerland pushes Brazil to the top in Group G.

The absence of Neymar was clearly noticeable in the game due to an ankle injury, as the team suffered to connect like their usual self but the five-time champions pesisted for long periods of the match until they succeeded in breaking the determined defensive set up of Switzerland.
Casemiro broke the deadlock in the 83 minutes just of the game when he latched onto Rodrygo’s smart flick from Vinicius’ pass inside and slammed home with the help of a glancing deflection off Manuel Akanji, to lift the hopes of the Samba Boys as the qualify for the last 16.
With the results in Group G, Brazil, with two wins from two matches, are guaranteed a top spot, although Switzerland sitting on three points, will need a win in their final group game with Serbia to guarantee their progress. A draw would be enough if Cameroon don’t beat Brazil because of the 3-3 draw between Serbia and Cameroon earlier in the day.
