Taraba Varsity VC decries lack of funds

The Vice Chancellor Taraba State University Jalingo, Prof. Sunday Bako, on Friday decried that it has been challenging for him to run the university within the last six months, as a Vice Chancellor due to non release of funds from relevant authorities.
Bako, stated this while delivering his speech at the University’s 13th Matriculation ceremony which held at the University sports ground.
He said he was finding it difficult to access funds to carryout activities of the University as well as the students welfare.
According to the VC, the university management were eager to ensure that the institution become a contending learning environment among best Nigeria Universities but the institution’s challenging financial situation was holding it behind down.
“It has been difficult for me within the last six months as a Vice Chancellor of Taraba state University Jalingo to carryout activities that would help grow the university due to financial stuck.
“I have not been getting access to funds from relevant authorities to run the university. It is our desire to ensure that the university become among the best high leaning institution in Nigeria but the finance issue is holding us and the university down.
“It is due to this challenge and our desire to ensure the university become great and improve the welfare of students that we have embark on a revival agenda to revive revenue generating spots of the university that have gone moribund. We have revive the university’s moribund farm and is now producing, we have stated the university table water and beverages company, we have revive the university Bakery, a bottling and mix-shop, we have revive the university printing press to improve production and as well improve on our students welfare through students school activities,” The vice Chancellor decried.
Our Correspondent reports that 5,739 students were matriculated for the 2021/2022 academic session with a caution to stay clear from activities that may necessitate the university authority to sanction them.
