LCN:Adamawa South gets First University
The Lutheran Church of Christ In Nigeria has performed Groundbreaking and foundation laying ceremony of its first University in Demsa, Adamawa State.

The ceremony was performed at the University’s permanent site in Demsa amidst praises and accolades to the Lutheran Church for great achievement.
The Gombe Deputy Governor, Manassah Daniel Jatau, who was the Chairman of the occasion described the development as very apt and timely, considering that education is instrumental to providing solutions to challenges of life.

He said, “In the face of numerous challenges that have overwhelmed not only Nigeria but indeed the entire world, the establishment of centres of knowledge like Lutheran University Nigeria (LUN) becomes imperative. All these challenges can only be addressed by the provision of knowledge, functional education to the society, that is rooted in integrity, knowledge and excellence in service to humanity. Like any other University, LUN will pursue the three major pillars of teaching, community service and finally research. The pursuit of these with all vigour and dedication will definitely reveal the solutions to challenges confronting us as the immediate environment, state, nation, the sub-region and indeed the entire world since graduates from this University will serve humanity anywhere on earth.
” Our experiences witnessed over the years confirm that the existence of Institutions of Higher Learning has very positive impact on the growth and development of towns and cities. DEMSA will not be an exception. The value chain of activities touches too many people, occupations, businesses and even the physical appearance of the environment. It is on account of the above that I passionately appeal to everybody to please key into the Vision, Mission and Values of this University to ensure it takes off in good time, and sustain the flight till the successful landing of the plane of ours, at our desired destination. Please do all you can or to borrow from the leftist scholars “DIP YOUR BUCKET WHERE YOU ARE” to ensure LUN becomes a success.
” To God be the glory and gratitude for granting us his favour, grace and love to witness this great desirable and crucial activity that will have a positive impact on humanity and the human race. However, in good time let me convey the greetings and goodwill of the Governor of Gombe State Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, the government, Gombe people and people all over that love education, the necessary ingredient for our meaningful survival on earth.
“Honestly, I feel highly honoured and humbled to have been selected to chair a laudable, important occasion like this when far more competent, honourable and greater personalities than myself abound in this gathering. As I struggled to know why and how I was pinpointed, I was comforted and consoled by an earlier philosopher of yester years who observed that “the race is not for the swift or the battle to the strong nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favour to the learned, but chance happens to them all” (Ecclessiates 9:11 KJV).My dear lovers of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria, lovers of the human race, lovers of knowledge, this event is truly apt, germane, crucial, inevitable and indeed historical being the first University in this environment.”
