BREAKING: Gale of defection hits Gombe PDP, Zonal chairman resigns, NNPP harvests
The Gombe North Zonal Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Abubakar Bello Chikasoro, has resigned from his position.
He disclosed this shortly after a meeting with the leader of the PDP, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo and its governorship candidate, Muhammad Jibrin Barde.
Chikasoro was the immediate past State Treasurer of the PDP before he emerged as Gombe North Zonal Chairman after the expiration of his tenure in 2019.

The New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) continues to gather momentum in Gombe State as it received leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into its fold.
A former Special Adviser to former Governor of Gombe State, Haruna Shuaibu Jonga, said they dumped PDP for NNPP due to political inconsistency, nepotism and lack of clear direction in their former party.
Others who joined the NNPP include; the Financial Secretary of the PDP in Gombe LGA, Hon. Babalo Ahmed, Gombe LGA Public Relations Officer, Khalid Muazu Izala, and Herwagana Ward PRO Muhammad Barau.
Others include Ali Rabiu and Muhammad Chindo, who were Special Assistant to ex-Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo.
Khalid Muazu Izala said they dumped PDP for NNPP to join forces with Khamisu Ahmad Mailantarki, the NNPP gubernatorial candidate in the state to bring about a positive change in the state.
He explained that they have been calling and drawing the attention of their former party leaders to abide by democratic tenets and spirit of national patriotism but they refused to listen to the advice.
Izala said NNPP has established a formidable structure in Gombe State with the capacity to clinch power from APC in the state by 2023.
Gombe NNPP Ranks Swell As Ex-Akko LGA Chairman Joins
The membership and ranks of New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), in Gombe State continues to swell as former Chairman, Akko local government area, Hon. Zakari Ya’u Abdullahi, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the party.
His defection was one among the dozens of defections by hundreds of members of the ruling APC and the opposition PDP in the state who defected and joined the NNPP in the state.
Abdullahi was deputy chairman and later chairman of Akko local government area during the late Abubakar Habu Hashidu led administration and he was twice a Special Assistant to the immediate past Governor of the State, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo.
It could be recalled that, the Gombe NNPP governorship candidate Khamisu Mailantarki had at several occasions received defectors into the party.
The defections have made the NNPP to become the emerging strongest opposition party in the state with three members in the state House of Assembly who defected from the APC to the party few days ago.
