Coalition calls for govt support to improve community service in Taraba

The Coalition of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Taraba state, on Monday called on the Taraba state government to support CSO’s operating in the state for improve community service.
Dr. Joseph Gimba, Taraba state chairman of Civil Society Organisation made the call while receiving an award of appreciation by Save Life Community Initiative (SLICOMI) Taraba.
Gimba disclosed that between 2018 and 2019, CSO’s were able to generate over, N400m from different donors for the development of Taraba and needed more support from the state government to improve their drive for community service.
“I wish to call on the Taraba state government to support CSO’S in the state to improve our drive for community service. Between 2018 and 2019, we were able to generate over 400 million from different donors for the development of Taraba.
“Our existence in the state as CSO’s if supported, we will impact greatly for the development of the state. I want to appeal on behalf all CSO that, Since there is a provision in the 2023 budget for CSO’S, government should release the money for better operation of CSO’s in the state,” Dr. Gimba called.
Gimba, while reacting to the award presented to him, expressed that the honour was a moral booster for his mentoring spirit to ensure success of the upcoming NGO’s and commended SLICOMI for her spirit of appreciation.
Meanwhile, Mr. Joshua David Kaka, the chief executive officer, Save Life Community Initiative (SLICOMI) Taraba, explained that the honour on Dr. Gimba was in appreciation for his mentorship to the organisation.
Kaka also called on the state government to assist the organisation with an office accommodation and other encouraging supports to boost its services for the development of Taraba state.
