Gombe Police Command Warn Students Against Occultism

Gombe State Police Commissioner, CP Oqua Etim, has warned students not to involve in occultism and other criminal activities rather to engage in productive ventures.
Etim also drew the attention of the students executive to see the reasons why the increase rate of violence and criminal activities is associated with “idleness” saying “once a child is busy he is away from crime because an idle mind is a devils workshop”.

In the press statement by ASP Mahid Mu’azu Abubakar, who is Police Public Relations Officer of State Command disclosed this in Gombe when when members of Executives of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), visited him in office.
The police boss reassured them of his undivided support anytime, any day, adding that their visit has served as “Christmas gifts”for him and urged the delegation not to be involved in any cultic groups so as to minimise crime.

The CP noted that ethnicity & religion have eaten deep into the fabric of our society, urging the delegation to keep such hindrances away and that way they can succeed.
According to him, “ethnicity and religion has been used to inflict wounds on people, and the NANS officials are in the better position to redeem people from perishing.”
Speaking at the visit, the President of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), alongside his cabinet members.
The delegation constituted the NANS’ President Senator, Usman Umar Barambu, D.G Protest, ASC Zone E, National Security Adviser, and the chairman NANS Bauchi forum with the aim of licensing with the Nigeria Police to put an end to the traditional violence as embedded during elections.
The NANS President, Senator Usman Umar Barambu, said the Association were at the command to solicit guidance from the Commissioner of Police on how best the union can prevent it members from involving into violence act or be used as thugs during the forth coming general elections.
Barambu, further reiterated the importance of security, as it is everybody’s business, hence their decision for the courtesy visit.
The President urged the Commissioner of Police to give the union maximum support, as not to take side with the politicians and likewise come to the rescue of its members whose bandits have been terrorising.
Also, the CP immediately responded to the issue of bandits attacking students by saying that he would see to the establishment of Standard Police Division to hold the unfortunate incidents particularly in Kashere axis so as to safe guard the University community and its neighborhood.
The CP lauded Gombe State as one of the peaceful State in the North-East, sub-region stating that it must not fail and therefore, urged the delegation to guard the peace enjoyed jealously.
