By Terna Chikpa, Jalingo
The Chairperson of the Labour Party (LP), in Taraba state Mrs Esther Gulmu, on Tuesday described the N20 million allegation and other accusation against her by the state party youth leader Mr. Thomson SP as childish and falsehood.
Gulmu also asked the youth leader to leave her family out of his falsehood, that she is not a corrupt leader and was ready to give detailed account of the party’s activities since becoming the state chairperson.
The LP chairperson while reacting to the press conference and a Facebook publication by the youth leader, accusing her of embezzling N20 million presidential campaign funds, anti party activities among others, Gulmu described the allegation as falsehood, childish and uncoordinated lies targeted at tarnishing her reputation to the outside Community and blackmailing her family.
“I am not a corrupt leader, I want the youth leader and other officials who are backing him to prove their allegation against me because, i am ready to defend all that was given to our office for presidential campaign in Taraba.
“It is childish and falsehood to say I was given N20 million by Peter Obi’s campaign council and I embezzled it. I was not given N20 million, I was given only N9 million and I used it judiciously with a clear record. The youth leader because of his desperation to make money, he want to spoil my good name and image to the society.
“It is also falsehood to say I am running the party office with my immediate family and i am doing anti party. I want the national Secretariat and all supporters of our party to disregard the information as it is purely falsehood, targeted at tarnish my good image to the society and that of my family. I am a loyal party woman and i am Obidient.
“Yes, I and my family are totally Obidient because we want a better Nigeria, but who are my immediate family members that are officials of the LP? I challenge everyone to come out with prove that I collected N20 million or misappropriated the campaign funds and I am doing anti party activities.
“I am against corruption and that is why I have chosen to be in the LP and remain Obidient. I want the national Secretariat, for the interest of our party in Taraba and to maintain the party’s integrity, see the youth leader and his team as those who are out for money making political business and not for the Obidient movement.
“They are desperate for money and can do the undo to get money. For the interest of our party and intergrity of Peter Obi, I want this people to be given more orientation about the Obidient movement and be warned against further falsehood or mischief against me and my family”. The Chairperson chides.
