Gombe Govt distributes 250 Tricycles to LG Workers

No fewer than 250 tricycles commonly known as Keke NAPEP have been distributed as Loan Empowerment Intervention to Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), by the Gombe State Government on Tuesday.

The Keke NAPEP which is distributed to the eleven local Government Employees is payable in five years to State Government as part of efforts to alleviate the suffering of Local Government Employees who often than not, do not receive salaries as when due by the various administrations.
Speaking at the distribution ceremony of 250 Keke Napep Loan Empowerment Intervention and payment of pensions in the Gombe Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, urged them to use the loan to enhance their work, and family.
Also speaking, the State chairman of Gombe of Pensions, Alhaji Mohammed Hassan Kwami ( Baba Savanna), called on the State Government to consider paying the outstanding gratuity to Local Government retirees in the state to alleviate their suffering.
However, the State Government revealed that Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has paid gratuity from 2014 – 2018 of the sum of N1.1 billion Naira in the first batch, second batches was N1.2 billion Naira while on the third on 13th December, 2022, N1.6 billion Naira will be paid to them, making a total of sum of N4.2 billion Naira approved by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, While his administration inherited N24 billion Naira backlog of gratuity from the previous administrations.
Also, Vice Chairman of State NLC, Comrade Bappyyo Abdulmumini, appealed to the State Government to purchase a brand new vehicle for the NLC for the smooth operation of the union in the state.
Meanwhile, analysis of Keke Napep distribution across eleven local Government Areas of Gombe State, based on investigation gathered from February, 2022; Akko local Government has received 92 Keke NAPEP, Balanga 44, Billiri 46, Dukku 40, Funakaye 50, Kaltungo 51, Kwami 54, Nafada 49, Shongom 40, Yamaltu/ Deba and 483 respectively.
Governor Yahaya, has also directed the Local Government Auditor-General to prepare the list of the Local Government retirees for prompt payment.
He explained the efforts his administration has made in improving, empowering and providing the needed welfare to workers in the state despite the meagre resources of the government.
