QATAR 2022 WORLD CUP:France beat England 2-1, sets up Morocco semi-final clash
By Samson Adeyemo
The defending Champions France have successfully progressed to the next phase as they have beaten England 2-1 at the ongoing 2022 World Cup and will battle it out with Morocco for a place in the finals.
Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni opened the score sheet of the game as he scored a sublime goal from range. Tottenham forward Harry Kane levelled the score after the break with a penalty kick, after Saka was brought down in France box, despite having an earlier appeal ignored by referee Wilton Pereira Sampaio.

Olivier Giroud then scored a late header in contest with Harry Maguire to put France in ahead of the game before Kane dramatically missed a second penalty kick, a penalty that would have maintained parity and save the day from reigning world champions holding on to win the match.
In the post match interview,
Bellingham said “The overriding feeling is disappointment because we’ve gone out.
“But the memories that will live with me in terms of the learning in training and the games, playing against certain opponents – it’s invaluable how much I’ve taken from this camp and the tournament.
“If there’s one feeling that I got after the defeat and in that moment when I couldn’t keep my emotions to myself, it was: I’ve got to get one. Whether it’s World Cup or Euros, I’ve got to get one.”
