Armed Forces Remembrance Day: Gombe Gov calls for sober reflection
Gombe Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya on Sunday led heads of security agencies, traditional and religious institutions to lay wreath in commemoration of Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

Recall that the governor had earlier during the emblem launch announced a donation of N5M to Nigerian legion to support families of fallen heroes.
Performing the task of honouring their heroic contributions, Yahaya who was represented by Deputy Governor Manassah Jatau called for sober reflection.


Our Correspondent reports pigeons were released in honour of the fallen heroes as a mark of peace in the land.
He explained that the marking of Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an evidence that people care about the well being of the fallen heroes veterans and their families and members of the legion.
He said, “This is a manifestation of being our brother’s keepers, and evidence that we care and are concerned about the well being of the fallen Heroes, Veterans and members of the Legion. Please maintain this so that our families will also be cared for, when eventually our duty tour on this planet comes to an end.
“Careful observers of the celebration of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day in 2022, will realise that government appealed for a sober reflections about the fallen Heroes, their families and also the Veterans.”

Yahaya urged the public to volunteer timely and accurate information, to quell insecurity.
“Once we the members of the public come together and work hand in hand with the relevant Security Agencies by providing timely information, our Law Enforcement Agents will excel in their duties, thereby ensuring Security, Peace, Progress and Happiness in our dear state and by implication our dear country Nigeria,” he added.
Earlier during the emblem launch, chairman of Gombe State chapter of legions, Sgt. Adamu Dogo, called for the remembrance of survivors and their dependants with the purpose of assisting them.

He commended the government’s N5m support, “In the next four years Nigerian Legion will continue to enjoy your good leadership inshallah. The Nigerian Legion are grateful about the opportunity to perform security duties in 12 schools in the state for 20 years without problem,” Dogo said.
