Commandant Goni Assures Igbo Community Of Adequate Security
The State Commandant, Nigeria Security And Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC Gombe State Command, Waziri Baba Goni, on Thursday assured the Igbo Community Welfare Association (ICWA), Gombe of adequate security.

He made this declaration when he received the President of the ICWA Dr.Egwu Wabs Onuwabuchi and his executives at his office.

In his address during the courtesy visit, the ICWA President who was ably represented by the Vice President ICWA Mr.Austine Onuoha Maduako, commended the State Commandant for his examplary leadership towards the maintenance of peace and order in the State and Country at large.
According to him, the primary function of the NSCDC is to protect lives and property of the populace.
He noted that one of the crucial functions of the Corps is to protect critical National assets, pipeline vandalism and crisis resolution.
He said, “NSCDC has been known for years for its proactiveness towards intervening in civilian conflicts and hot spots areas.”
The leader of ICWA delegation, recalled that the Igbos are captains of industries, Entrepreneurs, Investors and described them as people who are mindful of carrying out their lawful businesses.
He said, “The Igbo Community has embarked on a one week advocacy visit to Heads of all Security Chiefs and the purpose of the visit is to establish a mutual relationship with the Command and a smooth channel of communication available in obtaining peace and stability in Gombe State.”
In his response, Commandant Goni, applauded the Igbo Community for their immense contribution towards the enhancement of socio-economic growth and development of the State.
The NSCDC boss recalled three months ago, the sudden security threats that would have destablised the peace and order in the State, lamenting that through the intervention of the security agents the situation was was brought under control.
Goni, used the occasion to issue a stern warning to the public, community leaders, stakeholders, politicians or any group of people to desist from any activity that would destablise the peace and stability in the State or else face the wrath of law.
He pledged his commitment and readiness to provide adequate security to all the various ethinic groups irrespective of their religious and ethinic affiliations and commended the Igbos for their hospitality and contribution towards the economic development of the State and Nigeria.
