Doma Coach Onigbinde, Wants VAR For NPFL Matches
Doma United FC Coach, Akinade Onigbinde, on Sunday called for the introduction of Video Assistant Referee in Nigeria Premier Football League.
He stated this in an interview with journalists as part of post-match conference, after his team won 1-0 against their visitors Dakkada FC at the Pantami stadium, Gombe State.
Onigbinde, who lamented a possible goal that was not recognised by the referee noted that Video Assistant Referee would have made the difference.
Onigbinde said, “That was a goal, it time to call for VAR into our football too because actually we have a goal there after that we had clean hand ball from the opponents and it was supposed to be a good penalty. We were supposed to make use of the advantage because it passed through the line I saw the ball which is a goal.”
Speaking on the unruly nature of supporters, the coach said, “on the issue of supporters club we are going to talk to the management to talk to them, what they need is lecture to talk to them because of next match.”
Commenting on the win Onigbinde added, “this is a waking up to prepare against our next match away match against wiki tourist. It a moral booster we have three points at home, four in total so we move up. Our aim is to finish second or third on the table.”
On his part, Coach of Dakkada FC Danladi Umar, said he felt normal despite losing the match, adding that supporters interference was hostile.
He said, “My boys did well, it just didn’t go our way, the boys did well. However, we saw the little lapses and we will correct them and move on. The fans are very hostile.”
Ugoche Emmanuel, who made his first debut in NPFL scored the goal that yielded his team three points at the 59th minute, disclosed that his dream was to play in the continental arena.
“This is my first debut in NPFL, we looked for the goal and it came,” Emmanuel said.
Responding to how he felt playing for savannah Tigers, Emmanuel added, “I feel very happy, my dream come through to play for the Nigeria Premier League. I wish to play in the continental, my mates are playing in the continental and they don’t have two heads.”
