By Ben Ngwakwe, Gombe
The Gombe State Director of Department of State Security Service DSS, Alhaji Abba Adams Abdullahi, has reiterated the need for all stakeholders in the country to address the issue of insecurity and terrorism, adding that they have been major challenges in the country.
The Director added that the challenges are not only in Gombe State and the entire North-East but global threats.
The Security boss made these remarks in Gombe when the President – General of Igbo Community with its Executives paid him as courtesy call as part of their familarisation tour in the state.
According to him, “security requires collaborative efforts of government, community leaders and stakeholders.”
The DSS boss stated that the Igbo Community in Gombe has been carrying out their lawful businesses peacefully without any rancor nor breach of trust, stressing that the Igbos are “first among the equals.”
He further lamented that the Igbos are not second class citizens and by the virtues of their businesses, adding that, “they can contest elections as citizens in terms of their enormous contributions towards the economic development of Gombe State.”
He added, “We are all Nigeria citizens and when we keep our differences aside, we will diversify the economy and Nigeria will be a great country.”
He recalled that the long term cordial relationship he had with the Igbos, according to history, the Igbo nations are Jews, carrying out their lawful businesses and he jokingly said, “Anywhere you go and did not see an Igboman just pack your things and run away that place is not safe.”
He therefore, described the Igbos as the Jews because they are hardworking and industrious as people who have been contributing to the economic development of Gombe State.
According to him, “God created the Igbo race like the Jews because they have penetrated in all facets of the society.”
Speaking, the President General Igbo Community Welfare Association ICWA, Dr. Egwu Wabbs Maduabuchi, said that they were in his office to establish a good working relationship with the Command.
Maduabuchi commended the Command for their vigilance and prowess, charged with the responsibility of detecting and prevention of crimes and threats against internal security of Gombe and Nigeria at large.
He said, “We were here during your predecessor to appreciate the good works of peace we enjoyed in securing lives and properties and the synergy as a fresh move to fight crimes.”
