Finally, Gombe Govt Awards Road Construction In Tumfure

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, on Friday disclosed that his administration has awarded construction of road networks in Tumfure.
Tumfure is a fast developing layout located in Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State, under the Gona Emirate. However, very close to the city centre but lacking in water, road networks.
Yahaya explained that the project would consider Southern and Western part of the area.

Yahaya made this disclosure during the inauguration of N11.4 billion booster water project which is a joint venture between Gombe State and the Federal Government.
Our Correspondent reports that under the collaboration Gombe State Government provided about 70 per cent of the contract sum amounting to N8 billion, while the Federal Government provided 30 per cent at about N3 billion.
Fielding answers to questions raised by journalists on other programmes to be enjoyed by Tumfure residents shortly after launching the project sited around NTA, Governor Yahaya said his administration is passionate about opening the entire area through infrastructure.
He said, “We have already awarded construction of road network in Tumfure both south and west both sides will benefit from the water pipes that you see; they will have service road water supply and all other social services.”
While urging the residents to guard the installations jealously, the governor said more would come when equipment are seen to be protected, “But I will like to urge them to guard all government property and safe guard them because it is only then government will like to put in money and give them more services,” Yahaya said.
The governor who promised to deliver the water project hopefully after his re-election by end of May, assured that he remains confident of victory, Yahaya said, “I have already emphasised, when I give commitment I don’t like going back on my words. By the end of May we would have done this one.”
Also speaking, Minister of Water Resources Engr. Suleiman Adamu, urged residents to take full ownership of the project.
He disclosed that his ministry has never abandoned projects, adding that projects when completed are usually handed to the community.
Adamu said, “All our projects have been completed to 100 percent, non abandoned. We always finish and hand it over to communities to take care of it.if you see anything happening it’s after we had finished and handed it over to communities if they didn’t care to take care of it then it their own business.”
