Gombe First lady used about N1b to support Women
Gombe State First Lady Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya, has wrapped up her first round of Women empowerment scheme across the 114 wards of Gombe State where she expended about N1b to improve the lives of over 125,000 Women in various empowerment schemes.

The empowerment programme tagged; “Inuwar Alheri empowerment initiative” led by the Gombe State First Lady doled out the whooping sum of five hundred Million naira cash to 25,000 Women across the 114 wards of Gombe State.
The said amount was disbursed to the beneficiaries through the State’s Micro Finance Bank where 200 Women selected from each of the 114 wards of the State were given N20,000 each.
Other empowerment items worth five hundred Million naira was given to other category of hundred thousand Women include Bags of Rice and Maize as well as pieces of wrapper segmented across polling units of the 114 wards of Gombe State.
The empowerment programme train which Visited the entire eleven LGAs of the State to launch the program engaged stakeholders with a view to ensuring fair disbursement and distribution to the targeted Women at the hinterland of their respective communities in the State.
Targeted beneficiaries in some of the LGAs earlier visited already received their Money through Micro Finance Banks of their respective LGAs while others hope to receive theirs before the Week runs out.
The empowerment programme which terminated in Gombe LGA is strategizing plans of coming up with 2nd phase of another empowerment program soonest to reach other Women who did not benefit in the initial economic support initiative.
Economists who shared their views on the development said injecting over five hundred Million naira among 25,000 Women in various local communities would no doubt reactivate economic development especially in the Small and Medium markets, while the food items distributed to downtrodden would cushion the effect of food crisis caused by floods that ravaged farmlands in some parts of the Country during the last cropping season.
The two Weeks exercise which terminated at Gombe local government was attended by All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders, Community leaders, Commissioners’ Wives of Government’s functionaries, Women groups and other voluntary organisations.
