Gov Yahaya Swears in Special Advisers, Permanent Secretaries, Caretaker LG Bosses In Gombe

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has called on the people to eschew violence and confrontation both during the political campaign season and beyond, pointing out that his administration was committed to preserving the cherished peace and unity that make Gombe a beacon of progress across the federation.

He said that his administration has zero tolerance for political violence and lawlessness.
The Governor made this disclosure on thursday, while swearing – in the Caretaker Chairmen to take charge of the affairs of the 11 Local Governments in the State, newly appointed Permanent Secretaries and Special Advisers.
The Governor further disclosed that the appointment was in line with Section 9 (3) of Gombe State Local Government Council (amendment) Law, 2013 and section 79 (3) of the Gombe State Independent Electoral Commission and Electoral (Amendment) Law, 2013.
Despite that the general elections are at the corner, the newly sworn-in Chairmen was on the stream because of the successful expiration of the term of office of elected local government chairmen in the state.

According to the Governor, “their appointment today as caretaker chairmen is based on their exceptional track record and performance as elected chairmen in the past two years.”
He added that the re- appointment as caretaker chairmen was based on commitment to rewarding hard work, dedication and loyalty.
“Therefore, today’s occasion demonstrates our commitment to rewarding hard work, dedication and loyalty in our efforts to move Gombe state forward. This is even important as we prepare for all-important national elections that require the mobilization of voters and other resources for the successful conduct of the elections?
“As seasoned politicians and administrators, we are going to count on your track record of service and political experience to deliver victory to all APC candidates in the coming 2023 elections,” he added.
To the newly sworn-in permanent secretaries, while congratulating them on achieving the important milestone, the Governor said that their appointment as permanent secretaries was informed by their dedication to service and commitment to duty.
Yahaya said, “Our administration is committed to improving the welfare of our civil servants. This is demonstrated by various reform policies and programs that we initiated in order to strengthen capacity and improve productivity of our civil servants. I therefore call on you to approach your work with renewed vigor, dedication and sacrifice.”
To the newly sworn-in special advisers, the Governor pointed out that they are coming on board at the critical time when their wis counsel is needed.
“You are coming at an important period where your wise counsel and sound recommendations will be greatly needed. As you are aware, we are running a consultative and all-inclusive government where the inputs of all relevant stakeholders are taken into consideration in the development and implementation of government policies and programs. It is my hope that you will provide the important link between policy planning and implementation by engaging various stakeholders on how to move our State forward,” he said.
He lamented that over the past three-and-half years, his administration has delivered on promises and commitments towards addressing the developmental challenges facing the State, stressing that the achievements were recorded through innovative partnership with local government councils,
“we delivered people-oriented projects across all facets of human development. Those achievements, cutting across road infrastructure, education, healthcare delivery, water supply and sanitation, agriculture, industry and commerce, internal security, sustainable environment and civil service reforms have attracted commendations both nationally and internationally,” he said.
