Following the plea by state counsel Musa Adamu Kumo, for time to examine a motion, the Chief Magistrate of Bogo Court VIII, Japheth Maida, adjourned case to 1st February, 2023.
The defence counsel Barr. Ibrahim Ambore-Nuhu, had earlier in a motion dated 12th December 2022, sought for an order of the court striking out the case for want of diligent prosecution.
Recall that Musa Ali-Maishanu, the Regional Coordinator of an International Non-Governmental Organisation, Global Pan-Africanism Network Nigeria (GPAN), who is on bail, was detained by Department of Security Services (DSS), and arraigned by the police for threatening to organise a protest against the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
He was allegedly said to have threatened NAPTIP with protest for refusing to treat with justice a case of a 27-year-old woman, Hauwa’u Musa, popularly known as ‘Ladidi,’ who was taken from the state since she was underaged to Adamawa, married off, when she became an adult without the consent of her mother.
Kumo informed the court that he just saw the motion which was served through his colleague Barr. Jonah Lah, who held brief for him at the last adjourned date.
Earlier, Ambore-Nuhu, had said the prosecution was properly served, explaining that the adjournment which he conceded to would enable the respondent, respond to the motion.
