Gombe State Commissioner of Police Oqua Etim, has harped the need for inter-agency collaborations, adding that rivalry doesn’t promote intelligence, but would rather slow the process of maintaining peace and order.

Etim, disclosed this on Wednesday in his address during the maiden meeting of Public Relations Officers of security agencies in the state held at Usman Baba Alkali Conference Hall, Gombe State Police command, which was hosted by ASP Mahid Mua’zu Abubakar.

Represented by Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Muhammad Lawal Yusufu, he commended heads of various security organisations for releasing its Public Relations Officer to attend the meeting.

Our Correspondent reports that participants at the maiden meeting include; PRO of Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Federal Fire Service, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Nigerian Correctional Service and Immigration.

The Commissioner reminded the participants of their responsibilities of amplifying the activities of their various organisations, expressing his desire that the meeting would open a new vista that would draw them closer to serve God and humanity in general.

He said, “My take away from this meeting, you know your roles better than I do and you are the gateway to how the public perceive your various organisations. The perception of the members of the public, the reason for our existence collectively is to serve the public the good citizens of Gombe State as well as Nigerians in general that is the essence of our existence whether we are immigration, police, correctional service etc the essence is service to humanity and across the states were we find our posting and our calling in life.”

Etim, also encouraged the various security agencies to create room to tolerate friction, stressing that conflict is a necessary part of life hence, they should intervene in love without hatred.

“You are the building block of how the society perceive your organisation more over we are living in an era were fake news, hate speech pull them down syndrome, conspiracy theory are in abundance. It very natural to have misunderstanding with one another but how you manage is what matters because is a challenge that will lead you to greater opportunity. If you see anyone going wrong you should correct them,” Etim added.

On his part,  Gombe Police Parrot, ASP Mahid Mua’zu Abubakar, who convened the maiden meeting, lauded the support of his colleagues.

Abubakar described the meeting as something to be proud of, “for me to be the first to host this kind of important gathering.”

He noted that the purpose of the gathering was to ensure synergy, adding that, “whatever you do in life if you don’t consider the importance of others you will not succeed nobody can do it alone but I believe by coming together we will show the whole World, Gombe State and Nigeria at large that we are united, we are together all the time and we will continue to be stronger.”

The Police PRO said, “With that any organisation that comes out to speak about a particular incident they will know that even if you go to police, fire service, immigration etc is the same thing, that is the kind of synergy we want to have and is the purpose of our gathering.”

Abubakar, While commending his counterparts for encouraging the meeting assured that it wouldn’t be the last, “is just the beginning more discussions will take place and we are going to have a positive result,” he added.

Speaking further on synergy, Buhari, explained that it infers that they work together, collaborate, coordinate and get a successful result together.

“we have the same task of ensuring peace in the state as far as information is concern if we synergies as an aspect in our organisation the job will be very easy for us if there’s problem with any of us we communicate to each other and we coordinate and we will come up with a very successful aspect.

“This meeting is an opportunity for us to know our selves to understand to synergies and to coordinate and put everything together. So that we will be engaging ourselves by deepening in emergency collaboration and corporation so that it will take us to a greater height to ensure that Gombe citizens sleep with eyes closed knowing that we work together as a team,” Buhari added.
